What started a wild-eye mid-life-crisis adventure traveling to The Burning Man Festival sparked a new life chapter with photography. My specific interest in capturing fire arts, performances, music and dance. All my passions together.
My first burn in 1999 I packed a couple of disposable cameras and reveled in the high desert of Northern Nevada. With each returning year, to “the playa”, I purchased, upgraded my gear and taught myself photography. Working in interactive media, I had several co-workers and friends also interested in attending the festival. Over time I gathered a few talented mentors who helped accelerate my photography skills. Paul Crisanti was my most notorious and primary partner in crime. The one who I owe my biggest debt of gratitude.
My wife, Lee and I moved to Valencia in 2022 and learned about Fallas. This had me pondering my fate of ending up in Spain's original fire festival. Astrologically I am a fire sign. There is just is no escape.
While photographing music concerts and dance performances is 90% of my work, I also love photographing fire arts. It is pure enjoyment.
